Ride report. Australia Day. 2017

Ride report. Australia Day. 2017
Set off from Toowoomba with the Mrs around 9am after fueling up the XJR and checking the tyre pressures (down five psi, each).

The main destination for the day was 'The Goat Pie Guy' being Australia day and all.

I've read good reviews about The Goat Pie Guy and being a lover of a good pie I was keen to try one.

Heading north to Hampton we hooked right and headed for Esk. While the day was heating up it was nice to ride through the cool forest air but arriving at Esk it was quickly replaced by warm summer air.

Stopped at the Nash Gallery and Cafe for a coffee and Lamington. Well it was Australia Day.
Great coffee and Lamo too btw.

Back on the bike and through the hills over Mt Glorious. Cool air through the hills was welcome again. I have discovered I don't like blind left hand corners but still good fun zipping through the corners.

What goes up must come down and so it was heading to Stamford and on to The Goat Pie Guy. Enjoyable and uneventful.

Got to the The Goat Pie Guy feeling hot, hungry and thirsty.

I'm very pleased to say
The Goat Pie Guy was able to fix all my problems. There was a cool sea breeze blowing under a shady veranda. The pie was totally amazing and the pint of beer beautifully tasty and thirst quenching. If your ever near The Goat Pie Guy then do yourself a flavour and drop in. Tell him I sent you and he won't have a clue who you're talking about.

We raided a nearby shopping centre for a small, cool, bag and grabbed a small bag of frozen peas so I could bring two more pies for later on.

It was still a hot day and I was getting thirsty again so onto our last stop at Green Beacon Brewing. When we got there the place was packed, it was Australia Day after all, so I made my way to the bar and grabbed a point of their finest. Nice brew and I'd have loved a second but drinking and riding don't mix, especially on a hot day. Back on the bike and we headed for the hills, aka home.

Heading west into the sun is never a fun ride even less on the Warrego H'way. Just grit your teeth and get it done is the only way.

Thought I'd make it all the way on one tank of fuel ⛽️ but dropped to the last bar on the fuel gauge half way so a quick pit stop was called for. Full tank and head for home 🏡.

Great day out and all the stops were enjoyed.

Arrived home around five and glad to be home and out of the hot air.
